MagicGrocer ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: name and email address provided via Google or Apple Sign-In.
Grocery list data: list names, items, categories, and share codes you create or join.
Photos: images you choose to scan are sent to OpenAI's API for ingredient detection and are not stored on our servers.
Usage data: basic analytics to understand how the app is used (no personally identifiable information).

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and sync your grocery lists across devices.
To enable real-time collaboration with list members.
To power the AI Fridge Scan feature via OpenAI's Vision API.
To send you relevant notifications (only if you opt in).

3. Data Storage

Your account and list data are stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore), protected by industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Fridge scan photos are processed in memory only and never written to disk or stored in any database.

4. Third-Party Services

Google Firebase — authentication and data storage. Privacy policy

Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — authentication only; we do not receive your password.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy or required by law. List data is shared only with members you explicitly invite.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

MagicGrocer is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified in-app. Continued use of MagicGrocer after changes means you accept the updated policy.
